Message from the Chair

The Department of Family and Community Medicine is the third largest department within Baylor College of Medicine. Dedicated to high-quality primary care, the department’s faculty and staff strive to optimize the health of different populations through the department’s education, clinical affairs, community health, international health and research programs.
Since my tenure as chair began in 1997, the department has achieved some very significant milestones. We have established a well-funded research program and a federally funded primary care research fellowship; implemented a community-oriented primary care research initiative; strengthened our family medicine residency program; established a federally funded faculty professional development program; and been designated as a Collaborating Center for Family and Community Medicine by the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization. I invite you to learn more about us by visiting the departmental programs at this site. We hope that you will become as excited as we are about the opportunities in our department research programs.
